Everything you need to know about preparing and submitting your manuscript to WJMBS

Manuscript Types

 

Original Research

Full-length research articles presenting novel findings. Maximum 4,500 words including abstract, references, tables, and figures.

Review Articles

Comprehensive reviews of current topics in medical and biomedical sciences. Maximum 5,000 words.

Case Reports

Interesting and educational clinical case reports. Maximum 1,500 words.

Short Communications

Brief reports of important findings or preliminary results. Maximum 1,200 words.

Letters to Editor

Comments and discussions on previously published articles. Maximum 500 words.

Photo Quiz

Interactive clinical quizzes based on diagnostic images. Maximum 800 words.

Manuscript Structure

  • Title
  • Author(s) Name(s) and Affiliation(s)
  • Abstract (max 250 words, unstructured)
  • Keywords (3-7, alphabetical order)
  • Introduction / Background
  • Materials & Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion

  • References (Vancouver style)

Tips for Success

  • Title should be concise and reflect the nature of your research (max 150 characters)
  • Abstract should be able to stand on its own without references
  • Use SI units for all measurements
  • Write in British English with correct syntax and grammar
  • Use Times New Roman, font size 12, double-spaced

Ethical Considerations

Research involving human subjects must have ethics approval from an appropriate committee. Animal studies must follow institutional guidelines. Patient anonymity must be preserved.

Referencing Style

 

Vancouver Style

WJMBS adopts the Vancouver referencing style recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

In-text Citations:

Use superscript numbers after the full stop. Example: This is a citation.1

Reference List Examples:

Journal Article: Denning PJ, Campbell RT, John HT. Computational thinking in science. Am Sci 2017;105(2):13-17.

Book: Susskind L, Hrabovsky G. The theoretical minimum: what you need to know to start doing physics. London: Allen Lane; 2013. 256p.

Chapter in Book: Kelsey S. Aristotle on interpreting nature. In: Leunissen M, editor. Aristotle's physics: a critical guide. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press; 2015. p. 31-45.

Key Rules

  • Number references in the order they appear in the text
  • List authors' surnames followed by initials (no periods between initials)
  • Use "et al." after the first 6 authors
  • Journal titles abbreviated according to NLM catalog
  • Include DOI or URL for online sources
  • Italicize et al.
